Little Lameshur Bay Beach
Little Lameshur Bay is a marvelous beach on St. John showcasing everything you'd expect to find on a Carribean beach: soft sand, turquoise blue water, and lush jungle! This beach is located on the southern shore of St. John within the Virgin Islands National Park. Unlike it's next door neighbor and similarly named beach, Great Lameshur Bay, Little Lameshur has nice soft sand instead of rocky shores. This makes it a lot more popular, so expect some crowds. Visitors love to come to this beach as it's a great place to put their Jeep rentals to the test as the road is often rocky and covered with huge puddles of water.
The water in the bay here is usually pretty calm, similar to the other beaches on the southern shore. This makes for excellent swimming and there is some decent snorkeling around the sides of the beach. For the stronger swimmers you can swim around Yawzi Point on the eastern side of the beach, which will take you into Great Lameshur. At the western end of the beach you'll find some ruins from the colonial days right on the beach. Also near the ruins is the Lameshur Bay Trail, which will take you through the jungle on towards the Reef Bay Trail and the famous Petroglyphs.
