Monk's Bath Beach

West End, St. Croix

Monk's Bath is a weird name for a beach, but when you see it in person it all makes sense. Out of the hard, sharp coral there is a rectangular hole dug about 5 feet deep that looks exactly like a bath tub. What a bath tub it is too. With an arch on one end that allows the ocean to continuously fill and empty with the tides it is a great experience to get in and relax. On one end there's even what I imagined to be a step down in making it super easy to get in and out. Just north of the bath there is also a nice beach area where you can setup a blanket and enjoy some peace and quiet as not many people come this far north from Frederiksted.

Monk's Bath is located on the north-west side of the island just down the road from Rick's Secret beach and Ham's Bluff Lighthouse. You can park along the side of the road and walk through either the woods to get directly to Monk's Bath or park closer to the beach and walk a short distance down the beach. Just make sure you don't park on private property as across from the beach is a private residence. While you're in the area I'd also strongly recommend walking south along the coast, where around the corner you'll find Pop's Blow Hole. As waves crash under the rocks here the blow hole lets out a wonderful mist of water that is both refreshing and creates a pretty rainbow in the sunlight!
