Kiddel Bay Beach

South Shore, St. John

Kiddel Bay is on the South Shore of St. John made up entirely of small cobblestones. There's not sand at this beach, but there are other reasons to visit it than to lay in the sand. The beach has some of the best snorkeling on the sntire island. To the eastern (left) side of the water is Kiddel Point, where you'll find some incredible coral structure and plenty of fish, turtles, and sometimes even spotted eagle rays! The water within the bay is very calm due to both Kiddel Point and Ram Head Point blocking the surf coming from the east. This makes it an awesome spot for snorkeling since you can really enjoy the wonders of the sea without worrying about fighting the current.

To get to Kiddel Bay you go from Coral Bay and continue past the parking lot for Salt Pond. You'll eventually come upon Mandal Estate Rd to the left, which you turn down to reach Kiddel. The road can be a bit rough, but doable for most cars. You can take this all the way down to Kiddel where there is plenty of room for parking or if you turn right at the top of the hill you can head down to Kiddel's neighbor Grootpan Bay. You'll also find at the beach a nice big tree with a swing in it as well as a make shift firepit where you can cook up your favorite foods. One really fun thing to do at Kiddel is swim around the point on the right along the shoreline all the way to Grootpan Bay. Along the way you'll see all sorts of awesome fish and coral. And then once you're at Grootpan you can just walk up the hill and back down to Kiddel... or you know swim back!
