Hassel Beach

Southside, St. Thomas

Located on the northwestern side of Hassel island lies the namesake beach of Hassel Island. The location on the island puts Hassel Beach inside of the East Gregerie Channel with a great view of Water Island and in particular Banana Bay across the channel. There are also great views towards Crown Point Marina where all the cargo ships come in and some of the cruise ships. In fact if you're lucky you can see a cruise ship go right through the channel between the two islands. It is truely amazing to see ships that large going through such a small channel. Amazing! Along with looking at ships this beach is quite big so it's nice for walking and exploring. There's a cool area where you can find a swing to sit on while enjoying the scenary.

Getting to this beach requires going across the water as there is no bridge over to Hassel Island from St. Thomas. From Frenchtown it's only a short kayak or swim if you're adventurous. There are also trails that go across Hassel Island that may be accessible, but you'll want to check this site before visiting. If you are planning a trip to Hassel Island be sure to check out Garrison Beach on the other side of the island!
