Bluebeard's Castle

Southside, St. Thomas

Local legend says that this stone tower atep the hill was built by the infamous Bluebeard the pirate as a lookout. In actuallity though the tower was built in 1689 by the Danes as a lookout over the harbor and included housing and offices. Now the tower is part of the Bluebeard's Castle hotel, but is still as magnificant looking over Charlotte Amalia as it was when first built.

The tower has great views of downtown Charlotte Amalia and over the rest of the harbor as well. You can see the cruise ship docks towards the east and Frenchtown, Hassel Island, and Water Island to the west. It's an awesome place to be for sunset, expecially since there's a bar and restaurant with the best views in the house!
