Lindbergh Bay Beach

West End, St. Thomas

Minutes away from downtown Charlotte Amalia and even better just seconds away from the airport (depending on how fast you can run), Lindbergh Bay Beach is often times the first glimpse of the spectacular beaches that St. Thomas has to offer to visitors. Lindbergh Bay Beach definitely gives a great first impression with it's white sand, turquoise waters, and all the amenities a beachgoer could want. It's a favorite among tourists and locals alike. Some of the amenities on this beach include chair rentals, beach float rentals (highly recommended), jet ski rentals, and the Emerald Beach Resort bar that is just feet away from the water. Enjoy your drink and the view at the same time and then go out on a jetski... Perfect! The best part of this beach though in my opinion is the swimming. The Bay is protected so there usually isn't any large surf making for perfect wading and relaxing in the nice warm waters of the Carribean.

You may be wondering about the name Lindbergh Bay, and yes, it is in fact names after Charles Lindbergh, the famous aviator, himself. It makes sense that this happens to be right next to the airport since that is where Charles Lindbergh landed his plane, The Spirit of St. Louis, on his victory tour after flying non-stop across the Atlantic Ocean. He started in Caracas, Venezuela and flew to St. Thomas on January 31st, 1928 where he landed at what is presently known as Lindbergh Bay! Here's an interesting article for more of the history on his visit!
