Limestone Beach
Limestone Beach is a long rocky beach on the eastern side of Water Island. The beach is not very wide and the water in the bay doesn't get very deep until you swim out past the reef. It's exciting to walk along the shoreline to see what has washed up onto the rocks, you can find lots of shells and other things that have been tossed up by the waves. Not many people go to Limestone so you'll likely have it all to yourself, so take the time to enjoy the views and the quiet. You can even enjoy yourself in the little shack that was built right off the water.
Getting to Limestone is an adventure. From the ferry docks walk up the hill to the eastern side of the island. You'll turn left onto Limestone Rd. and then once you see the campground on your left you should see a sign on your right for Limestone Beach. The sign points you to a trail in the woods, which you take all the way down to the beach. It's about a 5 minute walk with a slight elevation change.
